In the next couple of months most of you, whether you’re at school, college or even a current university student, will be doing your end of year exams unless you’re on a coursework based course like myself. Yep, my university course doesn’t have any exams.
And if your sitting there, like David Tennant, hoping they won’t happen… the harsh truth is they will!
But I have your back! I have put together my 5 top tips that will help you when you are preparing for your exams.
Tip Number 1: Put the hours in!
Preparation is key in everything you do. An old saying I love is ‘Fail to prepare, prepare to fail’ and this also applies with exams. If you haven’t already started revising now is the time to start. One things to remember is that you don’t have to cram your revision in one night. Doing 20 minutes to 1 hour each night or even a few nights a week is fine as long as you focus and fully concentrate on doing those revision tasks.
Tip Number 2: Plan
Talking about preparation planning what you are going to do when revising is key to making the most of your time. Before you start set yourself daily goals of what you want to achieve. You could also create a schedule of what you are going to do each day. In the schedule you can include other tasks unrelated to revision such as social downtime and breaks.
Tip Number 3: Remove Distractions
Distractions are everywhere so by removing distractions from your workspace you will be able to focus and concentrate more on the task you are doing. Examples of distractions are having the TV or music playing in the background, having your phone on next to you, having Social Media open or doing work around noisy people. Finding the best environment to work in as soon as possible will increase the effectiveness of your time revising.
Tip Number 4: Keep Hydrated
When revising and when taking your exams it is important to keep well hydrated. I also advise, when revising, having a snack at hand. Having a snack and bottle of water nearby will avoid the risk of wasting time getting up at getting those things. Having water and food will give you energy and keep you focused.
Tip Number 5: Don’t Panic
The most important tip is to not panic about your exams. Although they are important there is no point in stressing. Just do your best.
