Going to university wasn’t an option for me until the last year of my college course and even then I wasn’t 100% sure whether I would go or not when I submitted my UCAS application. It wasn’t because I didn’t have the grades but because I wasn’t sure if it would be right for me. This meant that I had no real expectations of what university would be like. No expectations means no disappointments, right?!

As I mentioned before, I didn’t really know whether university would be right for me and I’m going to guess that quite a few of you will also have this same thought. Don’t worry if you feel the same or feel scared as going to University is a huge decision. However, I can honestly say that going to uni was the right choice for me because I’m happier than ever and more confident in what I can do. Starting uni with an open mind has really allowed me to enjoy uni life and being a student.

Whether you’ve decided to go to university or not just remember that your experience will be different to everyone else’s. Also if you are planning on going University next year set some goals. You can take a look at mine here.

Let me know in the comments below what expectations you have of University…

Change is always nerve-wracking, so making the huge decision to go to University is a hard one. To help give you an insight into how my first year is going so far I have created a small video sharing my first experiences of Huddersfield and going to University in general.

If you have any questions or general comments please feel free to leave them in the comments below.
