Education (Teaching and Learning) MA - Masters

Hi, I’m Neha and I’m a postgraduate student from India, and I’m studying for a Master’s Degree in Education.

Coming to study at the University of Huddersfield has been one of the best decisions I have taken.

Huddersfield, located in West Yorkshire, is a very calm and serene place. For people who have always had busy lives, this is one place where you relax and rejuvenate yourself.

I want to share my story of how I chose the University of Huddersfield and how rewarding this decision has been for me.

In the month of September 2018, all of a sudden I decided that I want to pursue a Master’s degree in Education, and specifically in the United Kingdom. After some research, I applied to every possible university that I came across. I was offered a place on the course at five different universities, but I had still not heard about the University of Huddersfield. I was posting about my joy of getting offers to study in the UK on social media, and a friend told me about the University of Huddersfield. I did some research, and the course there seemed so apt, everything about the course fascinated me. I checked the social media pages of the University, and I saw a friend’s sister had also graduated from the University of Huddersfield, and all this gave me a very positive vibe. I applied for the course at the University without any second thought. And today that decision of leaving aside the five other offers and choosing the University of Huddersfield has been the most rewarding decision for me in every aspect.

One main reason that I decided to choose this university was their social media channels, which portrayed the expertise of the university in student engagement, the well qualified staff and the positive approach towards students of all diversities.

Reaching Huddersfield in January, I was very scared as to whether I will be able to cope with living in a new place as I was all alone, in a new country, with all new people. But the fear vanished the minute I reached the University, every person was so friendly and approachable, they helped me with everything that I needed. In no time I joined the Indian society and met so many people from my country. Friends did make life easier in Huddersfield. Being part of various societies and volunteering for many events made me meet new people and also helped me be very comfortable at Huddersfield.

Within three months I got some amazing opportunities at the University. I was trusted with the duty of the Social Media Coordinator of the Indian Society, and as a society we won the Best Social Media Engagement Award. Recently, I got the opportunity to be one of three students who represented the University in a visit to a school in China; this was a heart-warming experience for me.

About the course I selected, it’s definitely a course that will take me a long way. The tutors are very supportive and very encouraging. You can go to them with your struggles and be confident that they will comfort you and make you feel relaxed. The library is a knowledge hub that can keep you enlightened with the vast variety of books that can help you with every aspect of your academic studies.

For everyone who is thinking of Huddersfield as your choice for study, I think there is in no way that the University will disappoint you. You will enjoy your time spent studying, as well as the variety of events the University and the International Office organises. Above all, you will make connections with people from all across the world with amazing friends from different countries.

Let every decision direct you to a better world of opportunities.

Waiting to meet you at the University! Neha.
