Sorry, I just really like that fact. But I get it. Exams suck. I’ve had my fair share in school and college but it’s true, uni exams are a total different breed. But don’t fret, I’ve picked up a few tips over the years to help make sure you’re prepared.
Revise with friends and other students
Sounds like a plan for disaster, I know. Hear me out. Being with people makes things memorable. I bet you don’t remember what it was like eating your pasta alone in your room the other day but you remember discussing where to store tomato ketchup in McDonalds yesterday (I will fight anyone who stores ketchup in the fridge. I’m sorry. I can’t accept it). You can have a laugh and quiz each other on things you need to remember.
Don’t start to revise in the last few hours before the exam
Easy enough to do. “I’ll just blast through my notes the night before”. Fun fact- It doesn’t work!
If you pressure yourself to learn something, you’re more likely to forget it. Trust me. You’re reading advice from an infamously forgetful girl you is always first to learn her lines because she knows she can’t learn them all at once. With this in mind, that leads me onto…
Make a revision plan
Nerdy? Yes. Does it work? Absolutely. Set out time to learn what you need to learn. An hour or more of revision can do the world of good. Plus, at the start of each session, go back and re-visit everything you covered last time.
Don’t push yourself
To go against the words of both Salt-N-Pepa, “Ahh don’t push it!. Don’t spend countless hours revising. All it will do is stress you out more. Take breaks. Leave your room. In the words of Tom and Donna from Parks and Recreation:
