Senior Lecturer in Education

Hi! My name is Julian, I’m a Lecturer in Education at the University of Huddersfield.

Are you passionate about teaching and ready to take your skills beyond borders? If you have ever thought about teaching internationally, then a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) International, also known as iPGCE or PGCEi offered by the University of Huddersfield could be the perfect next step.

What makes the PGCE International different?

Unlike a traditional PGCE, this course is designed for educators who want to teach in international schools or work in culturally diverse educational settings across the globe. Delivered entirely through Distance Learning, it gives you the flexibility to study from anywhere while gaining a qualification that is recognised worldwide.

You’ll explore global and diverse perspectives on teaching and education, learn how to adapt teaching strategies for different cultural contexts, and develop the confidence to thrive in international classrooms. You'll also be taught by the same academic staff that teach our on-campus students, 100% online.

Who is it for?

This course is ideal if:

What will you gain?

“The shortage of teachers internationally is a global issue, and international schools are expanding all the time, so the qualification is in very high demand. The PGCE International offers you the opportunity of an exciting global career.” Julian White, Course Leader

Expert teaching and support from experienced teachers and academics in the University of Huddersfield’s highly respected School of Business and Education.

By completing the PGCE (Distance Learning) International, you’ll:

Do you need QTS with an iPGCE?

Please note, this course does not provide Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) status. It prepares you to work alongside Department for Education (2011) Teachers’ Standards that define the level of practice expected of teachers from the point of being recommended for QTS onwards. QTS is not a requirement in the International Sector and therefore this course is best suited to those working in such settings

What curriculum can I teach?

The course will prepare you to teach a range of curricula, including the international Baccalaureate, International GCSEs, curricula in International British Curriculum primary and secondary schools and those using English as a medium of instruction.
