MSc Electronic and Automotive Engineering

As a current Master's student in Electronic and Automotive Engineering at the University of Huddersfield, my journey has been one filled with discovery, decisions, and transformative experiences.

One important moment in my journey to the University of Huddersfield was my participation in the International Information Day. Reflecting on this, I realise how significantly it influenced my path and how it can be a guiding light for prospective students.

Attending the Information Day as a Prospective Student

I still vividly recall attending the International Information Day back when I was contemplating my postgraduate studies. The event, held online, was meticulously organised, featuring various sessions that catered to the diverse queries of international students. From detailed presentations about the courses offered, including mine in Electronic and Automotive Engineering, to insights about campus life and student support services, the event had it all.

But what truly resonated with me was the interaction with current students. Their first-hand experiences, the challenges they overcame, and the successes they achieved at the University of Huddersfield were not just inspiring but incredibly relatable. It was during these conversations that I realised Huddersfield was where I wanted to be. The assurance that I would be supported academically and personally was a significant factor in my decision to enrol in the January 2023 intake.

From Attendee to Ambassador

My experience with the International Information Day came full circle when I transitioned from an attendee to an ambassador. This shift gave me a unique perspective on both sides of the event.

As an ambassador, I had the privilege of working alongside university staff to organise and run these information days. This role provided me with invaluable skills in communication, organisation, and leadership. More importantly, it allowed me to give back to the community by helping prospective students navigate their choices, just as I had been assisted.

Working on these events, I realised the magnitude of effort and dedication that goes into making these events informative and engaging. From technical setups to curating content relevant to a global audience, every aspect was geared towards providing a comprehensive understanding of what the University of Huddersfield offers.

Conclusion

For prospective students, events like these are invaluable. They offer a glimpse into university life, course specifics, and the community culture, all of which are crucial in making an informed decision. As for current students, being part of such events is enriching, providing an opportunity to develop skills, network, and contribute to the university community.

In conclusion, the International Information Day at the University of Huddersfield was very beneficial. It played a critical role in my journey as a student at the University of Huddersfield.
